Italy launches 1.6GW PV tender, bans Chinese equipment for small projects

This tender, with a minimum procurement capacity of 200 MW and a maximum of 1.6 GW, is open to commercial and industrial PV projects and large-scale ground-mounted power plants. The bidding period runs from October 17th to November 16th.

The Italian government stipulates that PV projects of 1 MW or less cannot use Chinese-made modules, chips, and inverters. The first round of the transitional FER X tender attracted 1,387 applications for projects totaling 17.537 GW. Developers who passed the initial review were required to submit their final bids by September 12th.

In the previous FER X tender, Round 16, the GSE awarded 278.5 MW of PV capacity to 53 projects and approved two wind power projects totaling 88.4 MW. Bid discounts ranged from 2.01% to 7.91%. A 2.7 MW PV plant in Ancona Province was awarded the lowest bid of €0.07199/kWh.
